This short extract presents data and figures on the extent of American media imperialism in Latin American television. It documents the high proportion of US-originated programming in Latin American countries, the scale of US direct and indirect investment in regional television and radio, the dominance of US advertising agencies in the region's television advertising market, and the resulting homogenization of Latin American television content and format with US models.
