Communications reasearch in Latin America

Abstract

This article is intended to be a tight, descriptive and analytical overview of communication research in Latin America. It is addressed to a broad international audience that cannot be assumed to be very familiar with communications in this part of the world. Thus it starts by roughly depicting the general situation of communications. It is within such a contextual setting that the research can best be appraised.
